Newell Singletary

Mr. Newell Singletary of Bladenboro, NC was born on Saturday, August 30, 1941 to the late Webb Knox Singletary II and Ruby Bryan Singletary in Bladen County. He ran into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington North Carolina at the age of 82 years young. 

 Newell was the oldest of twelve siblings. He quickly became their hero at many dirt tracks racing stock cars. He drove for many car owners over the years in which he won many accolades in his career. His biggest accomplishment was his friends. You could find him at your local Hardee’s or McDonald’s. He never met a stranger, he enjoyed helping his friends solve all the world's problems. Newell was always on call for any friend in need at any hour of the day. In the last few years Newell has spent every weekend watching his grandson Chase race his legend car at multiple race tracks. Where he has developed friendships with the young drivers and was affectionally known as Popa Newell Or Daddy Newell. 

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of 43 years; Jewell Cecil Singletary, seven children; Jonell Hartly, Jeffrey Newell Singletary (Stephanie), Misty Kay Andrews (Jamie), Kenny Leonard, KarrieAnne Packer (Jody), Wendy Singletary, Kimberly Hoagland (Jay), twelve grandchildren: Kristy Heath, Victoria Nomdedeu, Megan Roof, Jacob Roof, Alyssa King, Chase Newell Singletary, Nathan Hester, Timothy Packer, Sean Packer, Chandler Packer, Franky Newell Packer, Steven Packer (Junebug), Gwen Cordle, six great grandchildren: Caleb Pohto, Dawson Degiffarde, Davin Nomdedeu, Ryder King, Asher King, Ava Renee Packer, siblings: Melvin Singletary, Sammy Singletary, Tommy Singletary, Victor Singletary, Webb Jr Singletary, Isaiah Singletary, Debra Bill, Vicky Hickman, Minnie Pait, and one special niece and nephew; Ruby Davis, Timothy Hickman, along with a host of friends. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, on Friday July 19, 2024 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Bladenboro NC with Pastor Bruce Miller officiating, a time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
